The California State Waterboard regulates Leaking Underground Fuel Tank cleanup sites.
Data is obtained from GeoTracker http://www.geotracker.waterboards.ca.gov/. A LUFT site
is a undergoing cleanup due to an unauthorized release from an UST system. An underground
storage tank system (UST) is a tank and any underground piping connected to the tank that
has at least 10 percent of its combined volume underground. UST regulations apply only to
underground tanks and piping storing either petroleum or certain hazardous substances.
